Cursillo Needs Your Help

The Cursillo movement receives no money from the Diocese. All of the money for weekends and operations comes from us, the Cursillo community. Our funding sources are:

• Weekend fees—currently $250 per team member and $225 per candidate.
• "Le Bag"—a freewill offering given at workshops and gatherings.
• Sales of books and Palanca, including sales on weekends.
• Special gifts.
• Annual Palanca drive.

Weekend fees now cover most of the costs for weekends. Other facets of the budget, however, require a subsidy from the Cursillo community, otherwise there will be a shortfall. Other demands on the budget are copyright licenses, National Episcopal Cursillo (NEC) donation, sending a representative to the NEC annual convention, post office box rental, Rectorsí advances, Rectorsí gifts, printing and mailing the Newsletter, Clergy and rectorsí weekend expenses, supplies and other miscellaneous expenses.

The Secretariat is a group of Cursillistas, two clergy and eleven laypersons, appointed by the Bishop to act as a governing body, or vestry, for Cursillo in the Diocese. Its responsibilities are:

• Set dates for weekends; elect rectors for weekends, assure ongoing training in the Cursillo method
• Maintain and update guidelines for weekends; maintain liaison with National Episcopal Cursillo (NEC) and other Cursillo communities
• Manage the financial affairs of the Community; lay plans for future development of the Cursillo movement in our Diocese
